International Alert is SeekingVideography Consultants 2026: Impact Story Collection in Kenya
Overview
International Alert is inviting applications for a videography consultancy to capture impact stories from its project on climate, conflict and gender equality in the Turkana-Omo borderlands of Kenya and Ethiopia. The project aims to strengthen gender-inclusive local institutions that manage transboundary conflicts driven by climate pressures along the Kenya-Ethiopia border. It works across the corridors of Turkana-Dassanech, Turkana-Nyangatom and Dassanech-Nyangatom, with communities, women's groups, traditional leaders and cross-border institutions.
The consultancy lasts 18 working days, excluding travel days, between 7 October and 17 November 2026. Fieldwork takes place mainly in Turkana County in Kenya and in cross-border corridors reaching southern Ethiopia. International Alert covers travel, accommodation and other logistics. The listed pay is described only as competitive.
Requirements
The consultant plans and films documentary-style stories, interviews community members and project participants, records video and audio at several locations, produces edited mini-documentaries and works with project staff in the field and in post-production. The work must follow safeguarding, informed consent and do-no-harm principles, particularly with vulnerable people. Applicants must already have the legal right to work in Kenya, as International Alert does not offer visa sponsorship for this consultancy. Experience in humanitarian, development, peacebuilding or community storytelling projects is valued.
