Indian School of Business Research Associate Position 2026: Join Professor Shilpa Aggarwal’s Development Economics Research Team
Overview
The Indian School of Business (ISB) is hiring a full-time Research Associate to work with Professor Shilpa Aggarwal, Associate Professor of Economics and Public Policy. The post is a two-year full-time contract based at ISB's Hyderabad campus in Gachibowli, Telangana. The work covers empirical research in agricultural and development economics, including agricultural supply chains and rural markets. Part of the time, the associate will also collaborate with agricultural economists in the Standing Panel on Impact Assessment (SPIA), the impact assessment network of CGIAR.
Professor Aggarwal studies market linkages and economic development in low- and middle-income countries. Her doctoral research looked at road construction programmes that connected remote Indian villages to markets, and her current work spans agricultural supply chains in India and East Africa, domestic trade, microfinance and food policy.
Requirements
Duties include cleaning, organizing and managing large datasets, running quantitative and empirical analysis in Stata and/or R, supporting research on agricultural markets and rural development, producing analytical outputs for academic and policy audiences and assisting with data management for development economics projects. A Master's degree in Economics or another quantitative field is preferred, although outstanding Bachelor's graduates may be considered. Strong programming skills in Stata or R, excellent quantitative and communication skills and an interest in agricultural economics and public policy are expected. Prior research assistant experience is desirable but not essential. The role suits people planning a PhD in economics or development studies.
