Overview
The Irish Development Education Association (IDEA), Ireland's national network for Development Education and Global Citizenship Education, is recruiting a Communications Manager. IDEA represents more than 100 members working in formal, non-formal and informal education and is supported by partners including Irish Aid, Concern Worldwide and Trócaire. The full-time post is based in Dublin on a hybrid basis, with about two days per week in the office, on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and reports to the CEO.
What you will do
The manager leads strategic communications and public engagement to raise awareness of Global Citizenship Education. Duties include developing the communications strategy and annual plans, advising the CEO and colleagues, keeping messaging and visual identity consistent, creating content for different audiences, communicating impact through stories, evidence and case studies, supporting campaigns, events and publications, strengthening member engagement, presenting policy, research and advocacy in accessible forms, overseeing the website, email and social media, building media and partner relationships, using analytics, and managing external suppliers. The role may include line management of staff.
Requirements
IDEA seeks at least five years of experience in communications, public affairs, public engagement or a related field, including strategy development, excellent writing and storytelling, communicating complex issues, managing websites, email and social media, multi-channel delivery, project management and stakeholder relationships. An understanding of or interest in Global Citizenship Education, international development, education or the not-for-profit sector is expected. Membership organisation experience and knowledge of Ireland's civil society sector are advantages.
What you get
The salary is €49,522 to €55,737 per year, plus a 6.5 percent employer pension contribution and 25 days of annual leave plus public holidays. The contract is one year fixed-term, with the intention that it may become permanent subject to funding. A full-time appointment is preferred, but a four-day week may be considered.
