Overview

HelpAge International is recruiting an Africa Resource Mobilisation and Partnerships Manager to lead funding development, donor engagement and strategic partnerships for the Africa Ageing Conference. The conference is being developed as a flagship biennial continental platform to strengthen leadership, collaboration, learning, accountability and investment around ageing and demographic change. The post is a 12-month fixed-term contract at Grade D, with scope to extend subject to funding, and is open to candidates based in Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, Kenya or Tanzania. Applicants must have the legal right to live and work in the stated location.

What the role involves

The manager leads the resource mobilisation and partnership workstream for the conference. Duties include developing and implementing a resource mobilisation and partnership plan, maintaining a prioritised pipeline of funding, sponsorship and in-kind opportunities, and preparing investment propositions, concept notes, proposals, sponsorship packages and pitch materials. The manager takes opportunities from prospect research and relationship building through proposal development and stewardship, helps ensure agreements go through organisational approval, and coordinates with technical, financial, communications, due diligence and risk teams. The post also looks beyond the event to longer-term opportunities and contributes to wider resource mobilisation priorities arising from the organisation's Africa Plan and Africa Coordination Mechanism.

Requirements

Applicants should have a degree in international development, fundraising, business development, public policy, international relations, social sciences or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. They need demonstrable experience managing funding or sponsorship pipelines, substantial experience in fundraising, partnerships, business development, sponsorship or donor engagement at international or regional level, strong prospect research skills, and experience preparing proposals and partner-facing communications. Excellent written communication and coordination are required, along with the ability to manage many relationships and deadlines across countries and time zones. Fluency in English is essential. Knowledge of African Union, Regional Economic Community or United Nations structures, and experience securing support from institutional donors, foundations or corporate partners in Africa, are advantages.

How to apply

Candidates send a cover letter and CV outlining their relevant experience, submitted by email by 23 September 2026. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted, and employment depends on satisfactory references and screening checks.
