Overview

GiveWell, a nonprofit that researches where funding can have an exceptionally large impact, mainly in global health and development, is expanding its Operations department and hiring for several roles. It directed more than $400 million in 2025 and expects annual grantmaking to approach or exceed $1 billion in 2026, which has raised the need for strong operational systems. Roles are open at Coordinator, Specialist, Associate and Senior levels, and multiple hires are expected.

The functions are Grants Administration, where Associates and Senior Associates manage grants from research handoff through due diligence, contracts, payments and reporting; People Operations, covering payroll, benefits, leave, immigration and policies; Talent Acquisition, supporting recruitment end to end; Technology, covering IT support and software licences; and AI Enablement, helping GiveWell adopt AI safely and effectively. Executive support roles include an Associate in the Office of the CEO and a Chief of Staff in the Office of the COO.

Who can apply

GiveWell welcomes specialists and generalists, including early-career professionals and recent graduates. It looks for ownership, clear communication, good judgment, coachability, collaboration, adaptability and alignment with its mission. People who do not meet every preferred qualification are encouraged to apply.

What you get

The roles are fully remote within the United States. Coordinators generally earn $83,500 outside New York City and the San Francisco Bay Area, Specialists and Associates $102,500, and Senior Specialists and Senior Associates $123,000, with higher pay in those two areas. Benefits include fully funded health, dental, vision and life insurance, four weeks of paid time off plus a summer break, 16 weeks of paid parental leave, workstation or coworking support and a 5% employer contribution to a 403(b) plan.

How to apply

Applicants indicate their preferred team or teams. The process includes a two-hour timed work trial, a 30-minute screening call, further interviews and work trials, and possible reference checks. A cover letter is not required.
