Future of Life Institute Special Projects Manager: $100,000–$190,000 Salary | Remote Global Opportunity
Overview
The Future of Life Institute (FLI) is hiring a Special Projects Manager for its Communications Team. The position is full-time and remote, open globally to people based in a timezone between UTC-8 and UTC+1. The manager coordinates complex communications, design and digital projects from planning to completion and reports to the Director of Communications.
Projects can include websites, campaign microsites, event identities, reports and other digital products. FLI works with a retained external studio for design and development, supported by a small internal team, and the manager coordinates this model, making sure work is scoped properly, delivered on time and to standard.
What you get
The salary is $100,000 to $190,000 per year, depending on experience and geography. US-based hires receive health insurance, at least 24 days of paid time off, paid parental leave, 401(k) matching, a work-from-home allowance and a professional development budget. Benefits elsewhere depend on location. The start date is as soon as possible after an offer is accepted.
Requirements
Applicants need proven experience coordinating complex projects with many stakeholders, managing competing priorities and turning unclear input into practical direction. Experience building or improving project delivery processes, such as intake, review or approval workflows, is valued, as is project management across design, communications, digital or web work, ideally with external agencies. Strong quality judgement and calm under deadline pressure are expected.
Duties include writing creative and technical briefs, onboarding and managing agencies and freelancers, reviewing deliverables against briefs, brand guidelines and WCAG accessibility standards, maintaining the design system with the website agency, and possibly leading multi-month initiatives such as international creative contests. Familiarity with CMS platforms and SEO tools such as GA4 and Search Console is preferred, as is experience with contests, awards or nonprofit and campaign work.
How to apply
Applications go through the organisation's website; email applications are not accepted. Applicants upload a resume, a portfolio of design products they have quality-assured if available, and answers of 200 words or less to two questions: the project they are proudest of and why they want to work at FLI.
Key dates
The application deadline is 2 October 2026.
