The project, funded by Unitaid, evaluates harm reduction strategies and hepatitis C prevention among people who use drugs in Egypt, Kyrgyzstan and Nigeria, and its findings may inform World Health Organization guidelines on opioid dependence treatment, overdose prevention and hepatitis C care. Frontline AIDS is an international organisation working with communities to end AIDS and promote health, equality and human rights.

The consultancy involves 20 working days between 1 September and 1 December 2026.

What the consultant does

The consultant turns research findings into accessible communication products for policymakers, donors, health professionals, programme implementers and community organisations, working with the programme, research and communications teams. Tasks include reviewing findings, reports and protocols, writing an accessible reference document, building messaging frameworks for different audiences, drafting policy briefs, technical summaries, blogs and website articles, preparing presentation decks, creating social media content, designing or coordinating infographics and data visualisations, and supporting dissemination at conferences, workshops and policy forums in 2026 and 2027. Indicative deliverables include a research messaging framework, tailored policy briefs and summaries, journal article pitches, presentation decks, a social media package and infographics.

Requirements

Applicants should have seven to ten years of experience in research communications or knowledge exchange, including work with research institutions or higher education organisations, a record of developing communications strategies and translating research, and experience with stakeholders in diverse linguistic and cultural settings, particularly in Africa or the Middle East. Excellent writing, editing and storytelling are needed, along with the ability to work independently to deadlines and fluency in English. Arabic and Russian are significant advantages, as is experience with harm reduction, HIV, hepatitis C or social justice research.
