Front-end Engineer

Overview

Comand AI is seeking a Front-end Engineer to join its product development team. The position is based in London, United Kingdom, and the selected engineer will work closely with product design and engineering to build interfaces that support live operations. The role focuses on owning front-end delivery for Prevail, the company operational planning platform, moving from interaction design through production.

Requirements

Applicants must have strong production experience with React and TypeScript, along with a track record of owning complex interfaces from problem definition through release and iteration. Candidates need strong product and design judgement, pragmatism and low ego, and comfort with ambiguity and changing priorities. A contractual requirement tied to defence contracts mandates that applicants must hold EU or UK citizenship. Additional preferred experience includes mapping, cartographic, GIS, or other geospatial applications, front-end performance work with large or real-time datasets, offline-capable or resource-constrained web applications, design system scaling, and prior work in defence, government, or dual-use technology.

How to apply

The hiring process consists of multiple steps, beginning with a 30-minute online talent screening covering background, motivations, and future ownership goals. This is followed by a 60-minute online front-end interview assessing React and TypeScript fundamentals, product judgement, and problem-solving for unfamiliar interface problems. Candidates then attend a half-day onsite session in Paris to view the product, present a past project, and complete a front-end design and re-engineering exercise based on a realistic product problem. Finally, a hiring committee conducts a roundtable review of all evidence to make the final decision.
