Overview
Friends of the Earth is hiring an Executive Advisor, Strategic Partnerships, a full-time position working remotely within the United States. The post sits in the Membership & Development department and reports to the VP Membership & Development. It is a senior individual contributor role focused on securing significant philanthropic support for the organisation's environmental work, with an annual fundraising goal of $1.7 million.
The Executive Advisor manages a select portfolio of foundations and institutional funders, developing strategies to cultivate, solicit and steward them, and works with the President, the VP and programme leadership to provide fundraising expertise and philanthropic intelligence. Other duties include identifying and qualifying new funders, leading or supporting proposals, concept papers, presentations and reports, and monitoring philanthropic trends.

The salary is $140,000 to $160,000 per year, set according to qualifications and experience. Requirements
Candidates need at least 12 years of experience in institutional fundraising, foundation relations, programme development or related leadership, or an equivalent mix of education and experience. They must have managed complex funder portfolios, met ambitious fundraising goals and secured high six- or seven-figure investments from foundations and institutional funders. Relationship management, communication, proposal writing and strategic thinking skills are needed, along with experience turning analysis of philanthropic trends into strategy.
Preferred candidates have 15 or more years of experience in environmental, conservation, advocacy, public interest or social justice fundraising. Those based near Washington, DC, New York City or the San Francisco Bay Area are preferred, though others with reasonable access to a commercial airport may be considered. The role involves up to 15% domestic travel. Applicants must be authorised to work in the United States, as visa sponsorship is not available.
