Overview

The Editorial Freelancers Association (EFA), which supports freelance editorial professionals through business development, learning and networking, is hiring for two part-time remote positions, a Community Manager and an Office Assistant. Both can be performed from anywhere in the United States, at 30 hours per week, with flexible schedules.

What you will do

The Community Manager works on membership growth, engagement and retention, using data to understand trends and improve the member experience. Duties include developing data-backed membership strategies with the Membership Committee and the Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Transformation Committee, tracking performance and preparing reports, improving member onboarding and personalisation, supporting chapter coordinators as a link to headquarters, and managing and evaluating the job board and resources.

The Office Assistant provides administrative and operational support. Tasks include maintaining project dashboards and tracking systems, following up on tasks, preparing meeting materials and logistics including for board meetings, answering member and community enquiries by email or phone, keeping files and records, tracking renewal, compliance and contract deadlines, helping with basic vendor coordination, and creating and publishing event and course listings after checking prices, dates and descriptions.

Requirements

Community Manager applicants should have membership management, community engagement or customer success experience guided by data, strong analytical skills, experience with data visualisation tools, CRM systems and membership analytics software, and excellent communication and the ability to manage priorities independently. Office Assistant applicants should be highly organised and detail-oriented, comfortable with spreadsheets, documents, project tracking and dashboards, with administrative, customer service or office support experience preferred.

What you get

The Community Manager is paid pro rata on a full-time equivalent salary of $63,500 to $67,000 per year. The Office Assistant earns $26 to $31 per hour. Both receive a 3 percent automatic employer 401(k) contribution and unlimited PTO, and may be considered for full-time status after a six-month probationary period.

How to apply

Submit a resume and a brief cover letter explaining your fit. Resumes without cover letters will not be considered. EFA encourages qualified candidates to apply even if they do not meet every requirement.

Key dates

The Office Assistant role is scheduled to start on November 1, 2026. No closing date is stated.
