Overview

The Urgent Action Fund for Feminist Activism (UAF) is hiring a Director of Finance & Administration. UAF has spent more than 25 years supporting feminist activists responding to urgent threats and opportunities, giving rapid-response funding to women, trans, non-binary and LGBTQ+ frontline activists. It works with a global network of independent Sister Funds across Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, Asia and the Pacific, and other regions. The role reports to the Executive Director and sits on the Management Team.

What you will do

The Director oversees a $15 million budget and about 35 restricted revenue streams, covering budgeting, award processing, disbursements, post-award monitoring and grant closeout. Roughly 40 percent of the role is revenue management, including tracking restricted funds, donor compliance and audits. About 35 percent is strategic finance, such as annual budgeting, forecasting, scenario planning, financial reporting, receivables and payables, banking relationships, investment strategy and audit preparation, with the task of turning financial information into clear advice for leaders and the Board. The remaining 25 percent is coordination with Sister Funds across regions and time zones, building projections and shared systems.

Requirements

Applicants need at least 10 years of progressive experience in revenue management, philanthropy or nonprofit financial administration, and at least seven years of senior experience in finance, accounting, grant management or fund accounting in a nonprofit, including five years managing teams. International grantmaking, donor compliance, risk assessment and multicultural organization experience is valuable, as are QuickBooks Online, Google Suite, Microsoft tools and Expensify. Applicants must live in the United States and be authorized to work there.

What you get

The full-time permanent job pays $165,845 per year on a four-day, 36-hour week. It is remote, with about 15 percent domestic and international travel. Benefits include health and dental coverage, retirement benefits, flexible spending, HRA, phone and Wi-Fi reimbursement and paid time off.

How to apply

Applications go through the official application platform. Interviews are expected in September and October, with a target start in November.
