Danish Refugee Council Opens URRI Partnerships and Programme Implementation Coordinator Role in Uganda – Apply By 16 August 2026
Overview
The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is recruiting a URRI Partnerships and Programme Implementation Coordinator based in Arua, Uganda, job ID 176555. The coordinator supports the Uganda Refugee Resilience Initiative (URRI), which aims to improve climate resilience among women, men and young people in refugee and host communities and promote inclusive, cohesive and environmentally sustainable development. URRI is funded by the Royal Danish Embassy in Kampala and operates in six districts: Terego, Madi-Okollo, Yumbe, Koboko, Obongi and Moyo.
The coordinator provides technical support, coordination and capacity strengthening to partners and stakeholders. Duties include coordinating implementation against approved work plans, regular field monitoring visits, solving implementation challenges with partners, sharing lessons learned, coordinating with technical coordinators and programme managers across West Nile, holding partner meetings, preparing and archiving concept notes, terms of reference and reports, keeping risk registers, coordinating programme reporting, working with the MEAL team, and promoting conflict-sensitive, gender-responsive, evidence-based and environmentally compliant programming. The role also covers relationships with district local governments, the Office of the Prime Minister, UNHCR, consortium partners and donors, representing URRI in coordination forums as delegated, organising engagements with district leadership, and strengthening partner and district capacity through assessments, tools, peer learning and visibility activities.
Who can apply
Applicants need at least six years of full-time experience in capacity strengthening, programme coordination and programme cycle management, and a bachelor's degree in environment, agriculture, natural resource management, development studies, social sciences or a related field. They should know climate-smart agriculture, resilience design, climate or environmental issues, energy access or biodiversity conservation, and have worked with international NGOs on donor-funded programmes. Strong coordination, reporting, facilitation, analytical and negotiation skills and a commitment to gender equality are required. Multi-partner or consortium coordination experience is highly desirable, and local languages and DANIDA experience are advantages.
