CAFOD Senior Business Development Lead (Africa) – NGO Consultancy Opportunity in Abuja, Harare, Kinshasa and Nairobi: Apply by 31 August 2026
Overview
CAFOD is hiring a Senior Business Development Lead (Africa) to strengthen institutional fundraising, donor engagement and resource mobilisation for its Africa programmes. The post is full-time on a two-year fixed-term contract, based in Abuja, Nigeria; Harare, Zimbabwe; Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo; or Nairobi, Kenya, and candidates must have the legal right to work in one of these places. The lead works in the Integrated Funding and Business Innovation team and reports to the International Development Funding Team Leader.
About 60 percent of the role covers donor engagement, proposal development and contract management for an assigned portfolio of institutional donors, which may include UK government bodies, UN agencies, the European Union, START and the Disasters Emergency Committee. Around 25 percent covers identifying new donors, building pipelines and exploring innovative fundraising. The remaining 15 percent supports funding strategy, income projections, cost recovery data and contract monitoring. International travel may be needed.

Starting salaries are USD 52,141 in the DRC, USD 55,706 in Zimbabwe, KES 7,621,509 in Kenya and NGN 32,760,664 in Nigeria. Pay is in USD in Kinshasa and Harare and in local currency in Abuja and Nairobi.
Requirements
CAFOD wants excellent English, significant experience winning institutional funding including seven-figure contracts, leading resource mobilisation and complex multi-country bids, strong proposal and reporting skills, experience across humanitarian, development and peacebuilding contexts, donor engagement at embassy or mission level, programme cycle management, budgeting, leading bid teams and building staff capacity. Commercial contracting experience and French are advantages. Candidates should understand the role of the Catholic Church in development and comply with CAFOD safeguarding policies.
