Overview
The Catholic Agency for Overseas Development (CAFOD) is recruiting a Senior Business Development Lead for Africa. The post is permanent and full-time and can be based in Harare, Zimbabwe; Abuja, Nigeria; Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo; or Nairobi, Kenya. It sits in the Integrated Funding and Business Innovation Unit and works with programme, finance, fundraising and technical teams to help CAFOD and its partners develop high-quality programmes that attract institutional donor funding, strengthen relationships with major donors and identify new funding opportunities, including large multi-country programmes.
Duties include supporting or leading single-country and multi-country proposals, contributing to programme design, giving donor-specific advice, developing donor engagement strategies, monitoring funding trends and representing CAFOD with priority donors. The African Development Bank is named as one portfolio, alongside governments, UN agencies, the European Union and humanitarian funding mechanisms. The role also covers contract management for high-value or high-risk projects, researching donors, building funding pipelines, finding innovative financing, sharing donor intelligence and strengthening fundraising capacity in CAFOD teams and partners.
Who can apply

CAFOD wants a strong record of successful proposals and reports for institutional donors, including experience securing large, seven-figure contracts. Relevant experience includes humanitarian, development and peacebuilding programmes, multi-country proposals, donor representation, monitoring and evaluation, consortium coordination, contract management, market systems and value chains, capacity building and multilateral development banks. Partnership-based programme experience and French are desirable, as is experience with blended finance, institutional strengthening and policy reform.
