Overview

The African Union has published a set of vacancies and an internship programme across the African Union Commission, the African Space Agency and Africa CDC. Locations include Addis Ababa in Ethiopia, Cairo in Egypt, Tunis in Tunisia, the Democratic Republic of Congo and South Sudan. Eligibility differs between vacancies, so each announcement should be read in full.

Positions and dates

The Education, Science, Technology and Innovation portfolio is recruiting in Addis Ababa for a Program Officer for TVET and Skills Development at grade P3 and a Partnerships and Advocacy Officer for Education and TVET at grade P2, both closing on 15 September 2026.

The African Space Agency in Cairo is hiring a Programme Coordinator (P4), a Senior Monitoring and Evaluation Officer (P3) and a Senior Knowledge Management Officer (P3), all closing on 24 September 2026.

In Tunis, an Information Technology Expert (P2) is sought for STATAFRIC, the African Union's statistical institution, with a deadline of 8 September 2026.

Africa CDC lists a Senior Technical Officer and Molecular Virologist (P3), locally recruited for the Democratic Republic of Congo and South Sudan, closing on 10 September 2026. It also lists the AVoHC Kofi Annan Resource Mobilization Expert opportunity, a 20-place rapid-responder volunteer roster open to citizens of African Union Member States and members of the African Diaspora, with a listed deadline of 3 September 2026 that applicants should verify.

The African Union Internship Programme 2026, within the African Union Commission, offers practical exposure to continental policy, programmes and institutional operations and is open until 31 December 2026.

Who can apply

The opportunities are intended mainly for African nationals, but this does not guarantee eligibility for every vacancy. Some roles are open to nationals of Member States, locally recruited roles carry country-specific requirements, and each post sets its own academic, professional, nationality and location conditions. Interns should check educational status and nationality rules.

How to apply

Applications go through the official African Union careers portal, following the instructions for each vacancy.
