Overview

Prevail Fund is hiring a Senior Partnerships Officer for Africa. Prevail is a foundation that backs ambitious organisations and private philanthropists seeking large-scale social change, offering patient philanthropic capital, technical assistance and talent development support, mainly in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. Its first major fund aims to improve foundational education for more than 27.5 million children across 11 national governments, and it has partnered with more than 30 organisations.

The position is full-time and permanent, fully remote within Africa, with up to 25% travel. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and the start date is as soon as possible.

What the role involves

The officer manages a portfolio of roughly five to eight partner organisations and works closely with their leadership teams to find problems, assess performance and open up growth opportunities. The work is hands-on. It includes reviewing performance data, tracking progress against agreed milestones, recommending renewals, scale-ups or exits, spotting risks early and coordinating targeted support. The officer also follows developments in target markets, such as government reforms and funder priorities, takes part in funding and investment decisions for the portfolio, and may work with colleagues on projects that bring partner leaders together.

Who can apply

Prevail wants people with at least 10 years of professional experience in or alongside organisations that have grown significantly, for example as an operator, consultant, social entrepreneur or strategist. Candidates should be comfortable working with senior leadership teams, diagnosing complex problems, coordinating several stakeholders and making independent decisions in fast-paced settings.

What you get

Pay is a competitive salary based on experience, skills and location. Benefits include health insurance and wellness support, a home workspace or co-working stipend, a learning and development budget, and 25 days of paid time off plus public holidays.

How to apply

The selection process has several stages: a conversation with the People Team, a live exercise with a Partnerships Officer, a paid take-home exercise, an interview with the hiring manager and a panel interview. Candidates are told they will receive feedback throughout.
