2026:Head of Capital Raising – Europe at BURN| Remote Senior Finance Opportunity

Overview

BURN is seeking a Head of Capital Raising for Europe, a full-time, senior, remote role for a finance professional based in Europe. The post leads fundraising to support carbon project development and company growth, mainly in clean cookstove projects, and works closely with the CFO, the CEO and the Director of Corporate Finance and Investor Relations. Regular travel is required for investor meetings, roadshows, conferences and industry events.

What the role involves

The Head of Capital Raising secures funding in two areas. For corporate equity, they identify and engage institutional investors, impact funds, pension funds, family offices and others across Europe, the United States and the Middle East. They develop investment narratives, financial models and investor presentations, and manage investor engagement, due diligence, term sheet negotiation and closing, while keeping a pipeline of investors and updating senior leaders. For carbon project finance, they raise project-level financing, which may use debt, mezzanine finance, blended finance, carbon credit pre-purchases and forward sales, from financiers such as development finance institutions, green banks and climate funds. They also help structure packages that match project timelines, carbon verification and credit issuance, working with Corporate Finance and Legal on instruments like credit agreements, offtake agreements and project special purpose vehicles. They represent the company at climate finance and carbon market events and build relationships with newer investors such as sovereign wealth funds, pension funds and ESG-focused corporations.

Requirements

Applicants need at least 10 years of direct capital raising experience and a verifiable record of closing equity and/or debt transactions with institutional investors, including DFIs, impact investors, pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, family offices and climate funds. Experience in carbon project finance, climate finance, cleantech, energy access or African markets is an advantage. Candidates should understand equity deal structuring, project finance, blended finance and carbon-backed financing, and be able to prepare investment-grade models, information memoranda and investor decks. Strong negotiation, communication and relationship skills are required. A bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business or a related field is required, and an MBA, CFA or equivalent is preferred.
