ML Engineer - Internship

Overview

Alta Ares is hiring a Machine Learning Engineer Intern to join the Software department's Data and AI team in Paris. The organization builds AI-guided interceptors and software platforms for NATO-aligned militaries and defense institutions. This internship offers hands-on experience in applied machine learning, computer vision, and MLOps, focusing on the development of end-to-end ML pipelines for real-world defense applications.

What you get

The intern will contribute to internal AI infrastructure and model lifecycle management. Responsibilities include improving training pipelines for computer vision tasks such as object detection, segmentation, and tracking. The role involves developing evaluation frameworks using standard metrics and automating experiment tracking, building reproducible workflows for large-scale image and video datasets, contributing to deployment workflows for edge devices and embedded systems, implementing monitoring tools, and documenting best practices with the team.

Requirements

Applicants need strong foundations in Python, data science, and machine learning, alongside knowledge of deep learning frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow. Candidates must be able to analyze, visualize, and preprocess large-scale image and video datasets. Familiarity with experiment tracking tools such as MLflow or Weights and Biases, data versioning tools such as DVC, as well as Docker, Git, and cloud platforms like AWS or GCP is required. The position calls for the ability to work autonomously in a research and prototyping environment alongside strong collaboration skills.
