ESCAP Internships 2026 in Thailand: Gender Equality and Communications
Overview
The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific offers two internship opportunities within its Social Development Division based in Bangkok, Thailand. These positions focus on gender equality, women’s empowerment, and development communications. The internship programme gives eligible participants professional exposure to a regional commission of the United Nations while contributing to its social development initiatives and regional cooperation efforts.
Who can apply
Applicants must be enrolled in or have completed a graduate programme such as a master's degree or PhD, or be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a bachelor's degree programme. Candidates who are children or siblings of a United Nations staff member are not eligible for the programme. Meeting the baseline criteria does not guarantee selection, and candidates must also fulfill any specific requirements detailed in the individual vacancy notices.
What you get
The internships are unpaid, and participants do not receive financial remuneration. However, interns gain practical work experience within a United Nations organization, develop professional skills in research, writing, analysis, and communication, and deepen their understanding of gender equality and social development. Participants who successfully finish the programme receive an internship certificate noting their period of service and assigned department.
Requirements
Selected participants must arrange and secure their own valid visas and maintain medical insurance that covers expenses in Thailand. Interns are also entirely responsible for funding their own travel, accommodation, meals, daily transportation, and all other living costs. Successful completion of an internship does not guarantee future employment with the United Nations.
How to apply
Interested individuals must review the vacancies using reference numbers 284740 or 284741, read the respective vacancy notices to confirm academic alignment, and prepare all information and supporting documents requested by the application system.
Key dates
The application deadline for both vacancies is 27 October 2026. The duration of the internship programme spans between two and six months on a full-time basis, with exact starting dates coordinated alongside the supervising division.
