CALTECH Summer Research Fellowship 2027 in USA | Paid Fellowship
Overview
The Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowships program is a ten-week opportunity taking place from June to August 2027 in California, United States. Hosted at the California Institute of Technology, the program allows national and international undergraduate students to work on research projects aligned with their educational fields across diverse subjects related to Science, Engineering, Technology, Mathematics, and Economics. Participants utilize research facilities to complete their projects, attend weekly sessions led by scientists, engineers, and faculty members, participate in social and cultural activities, and attend weekly student-faculty dinners. Upon completion, participants submit a written report and deliver a presentation at a seminar or symposium.
Who can apply
Both national and international students are eligible to apply. Visiting non-Caltech applicants must be current undergraduate students who have completed their second semester or third quarter at their home university, hold a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, and be eligible to register for the fall semester. Current Caltech undergraduate students must have completed their third term at Caltech or an approved graduate school with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale, and be eligible to register for the fall term. All applicants must not be under any academic or disciplinary restrictions. International students studying outside the USA can apply for campus placements and will receive visa instructions for an F-1 or J-1 visa, while those already studying in the USA must obtain employment authorization. Participation at NASA JPL placements is restricted to U.S. citizens and permanent residents.
What you get
Participants receive a stipend of $8,354 for the ten-week period, which can be used to cover housing, travel, and living expenses. Fellows gain hands-on research experience, academic and professional skill development, and networking opportunities.
