2027 Summer Intern, BS/MS, Software Engineer, RO Performance team, Release Evaluation (Simulation)
Overview
Waymo, the autonomous driving technology company that grew out of the Google Self-Driving Car Project, is offering a 2027 summer internship for a Software Engineer in Warsaw. The placement is on the Release Evaluation team within RO Performance, working on simulation. The Waymo Driver has completed over ten million rider-only trips and driven more than 100 million miles on public roads and tens of billions in simulation. Interns partner with industry leaders on projects that have real impact, and the company treats them as an important part of its culture and recruiting pipeline.
What you will do
The intern collaborates with the team to analyse experiment results, document findings and help bring the most successful strategies into production. Other tasks are prototyping scheduling algorithms intended to smooth out computational load and running benchmarks to study the speed, throughput and resource efficiency of related systems and specific implementations.
Who can apply
Applicants should be pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, software engineering or a related technical field.
Requirements
The employer expects a solid grounding in computer science fundamentals, especially data structures and algorithms, and strong software development skills in at least one general-purpose language such as C++, Java or Python, plus SQL, with a wish to work extensively in C++. Familiarity with or strong interest in distributed systems, data processing pipelines or operating systems is needed, as is familiarity with statistics for interpreting large datasets. Preferred extras include C++ proficiency, coursework in task scheduling or data pipelines, experience with profiling and benchmarking, and experience analysing system performance with large datasets.
How to apply
This is a hybrid onsite internship, and resumes are accepted on a rolling basis until the role is filled. Candidates wanting to be considered for several roles must apply to each separately, and are asked to apply to their top three.
