Young Humanitarian Handbook Learning Series 2026: Apply for Free Humanitarian Training and Earn a Certificate
Overview
The Young Humanitarian Handbook Learning Series 2026 is an educational programme designed to introduce participants to the Young Humanitarian Handbook and demonstrate its use as a practical resource for learning and humanitarian action. Organised by ActionAid and UNICEF partners under the Compact for Young People in Humanitarian Action, the initiative addresses the limited access many young people and youth-led organisations have to practical training. The programme uses interactive and participatory approaches to help attendees develop knowledge, practise facilitation skills, and connect with peers interested in humanitarian work.
The training consists of four ninety-minute sessions conducted entirely in English. The schedule comprises Session 1 on Tuesday, 17 November 2026 at 09:45 AM GMT, Session 2 on Thursday, 19 November 2026 at 09:45 AM GMT, Session 3 on Tuesday, 24 November 2026 at 09:45 AM GMT, and Session 4 on Thursday, 26 November 2026 at 09:45 AM GMT. Sessions begin at 12:45 PM East African Time and at 11:45 AM Zimbabwe time. Participants are expected to attend all four sessions in full.
What you get
Participants who complete all programme requirements will receive a Certificate of Completion, which will be issued following a review of participation records in December 2026. The programme also provides an opportunity to strengthen humanitarian understanding, explore ways to support youth participation, exchange experiences with other young people, reflect on humanitarian challenges, and build a network of young facilitators.
Requirements
Applicants must be comfortable participating in English-language discussions and completing required learning activities. Selected participants are expected to attend all four learning sessions in full, complete all required learning activities and assignments, participate actively throughout the journey, and engage in discussions, reflection, and peer-learning activities.
