Overview

The Officially Green Global Fellowship 2026/2027 is an international, action-oriented environmental leadership programme organised by The Green Institute. Designed for the February 2027 cohort, the initiative aims to develop emerging environmental leaders through sustainability learning, advocacy, and practical community-based initiatives. The programme focuses on translating environmental awareness into meaningful action by equipping young people with the knowledge, skills, and networks required to promote sustainable practices among younger generations worldwide.

Who can apply

Applications are open to young individuals worldwide who are between 18 and 35 years old at the application deadline. Candidates must demonstrate a genuine commitment to environmental sustainability and climate action, have reliable internet access, and be available to attend all designated fellowship conferences. The programme suits environmental advocates, climate activists, sustainability enthusiasts, educators, community organisers, and emerging development leaders.

What you get

Participants gain expert-led learning opportunities with sustainability experts and thought leaders, leadership development in advocacy and project management, and international networking with peers from different countries. Successful participants who fulfil all programme requirements receive a certificate of completion and build an environmental project portfolio through documented initiatives. Additionally, Fellows have the opportunity to compete for a conditional post-fellowship grand prize of US$1,000, which supports the continuation or expansion of the Educators Initiative for one Fellow demonstrating full compliance and meaningful results.

Requirements

Fellows must participate in all designated fellowship conferences and learning activities. Participants are required to establish and nurture an Officially Green Club in a primary or secondary school, engaging at least 20 students in sustainability education covering topics such as waste management, environmental conservation, climate awareness, and sustainable lifestyles. Furthermore, Fellows must advocate for the seven Officially Green pledges through social media and community networks using the hashtag #OfficiallyGreen, and they must document their activities by submitting reports or other evidence of their progress and impact.

Key dates

The application deadline is 7 January 2027 at 4:00 GMT. The fellowship cohort begins in February 2027.
