Overview

The Africa Innovation Fellowship is an eight-month leadership and business development programme delivered by WomHub in partnership with the Royal Academy of Engineering. Designed for women leading early-stage businesses, the initiative supports women-led STEM innovations and technology-enabled start-urs across sub-Saharan Africa. The 2026–2027 cohort aims to help female founders transform their ideas into sustainable, scalable, and investment-ready enterprises through virtual learning, venture clinics, and in-person engagement.

Who can apply

This fellowship is intended for women entrepreneurs across sub-Saharan Africa who lead early-stage engineering innovations or technology-enabled start-ups. Applicants should be female founders or lead a women-led business operating in STEM-related fields. Candidates need a commitment to building a sustainable and scalable enterprise, along with a desire to enhance their leadership, commercial capabilities, and investment readiness.

What you get

Selected participants receive access to a fully funded in-person entrepreneurship bootcamp, virtual masterclasses, and dedicated venture clinics. The curriculum covers business strategy, leadership, financial coaching, product development, market access, and investor engagement. Fellows also gain mentorship from industry experts and experienced professionals, access to a co-working environment, and networking connections with peers, investors, and programme partners.
