Overview
The International Centre Goa is offering the Scholars-in-Residence Programme 2027, a 30-day writing and research residency based in Dona Paula, Goa, India. The programme is hosted by a non-profit autonomous society established in 1987 and inaugurated in 1996 to serve as a forum for intellectual exchange. It provides selected participants with dedicated time in an academic and intellectual environment to focus on developing an ongoing book manuscript or other substantial written work.
Who can apply
This residency is open to residents of India who are academics, journalists, writers, and other professionals. Eligible candidates must already be working on an ongoing scholarly or literary project that has made significant progress, rather than ideas that are still in the initial planning stage. Applicants must be able to demonstrate advanced progress on their work, such as having one or two completed book chapters or other relevant documentation of the work already undertaken.
What you get
Selected participants spend 30 days at the International Centre Goa to advance their writing projects. The programme includes return air travel, a stipend, and a food allowance to support scholars during their stay.
Requirements
Applicants must submit three required documents for consideration. These include a short biography of one to two pages outlining their background and relevant professional or academic experience, a book project description of a maximum of two pages explaining the proposed work, its subject, objectives, and current stage of development, and a writing sample consisting of one or two chapters from the ongoing project.
