Overview
The Humanitarian AI Research Fellowship 2027 is organised by NetHope to support practical research on the responsible application of artificial intelligence in humanitarian and development contexts. The programme runs on a part-time basis for approximately four months, spanning from mid-November 2026 to February 2027. Participants work within one of two research streams: AI Adoption and Governance, or AI Systems and Localisation. The fellowship is conducted remotely, enabling individuals to take part from anywhere in the world.

Candidates must demonstrate solid research, analytical, and communication skills, as well as the ability to work independently on a research project. Those applying to the AI Adoption and Governance stream may have experience in policy, humanitarian programming, international development, programme evaluation, organisational change, or technology adoption. Candidates for the AI Systems and Localisation stream typically have technical expertise in computer science, machine learning, or applied data science.
