Overview

The Global Investigative Journalism Network is offering a fellowship opportunity for the Global Investigative Journalism Conference 2027. The programme aims to support professional journalists by enabling them to attend an international investigative journalism conference, helping them develop professional knowledge and strengthen their capacity to produce impactful work. Priority is given to applicants from the Global South and historically underrepresented communities, with the initiative intended for media professionals working in developing or transitioning countries.

Who Can Apply

The opportunity is open to professional journalists working across various media formats, including print, online media, television, video, radio, documentary production, and multimedia. Applicants with experience in investigative journalism or data journalism are particularly encouraged, though this background serves as an advantage rather than a strict requirement. Candidates must have a working knowledge of English, as applications and conference sessions are conducted in English. While priority goes to those based in developing or transitioning countries, journalists from outside those regions who cannot afford attendance costs may also apply by explaining their financial circumstances.

Requirements

Selected fellows have post-conference responsibilities to ensure the benefits are shared with the broader journalism community. Following the event, each participant must either produce and publish a story directly related to the conference or deliver a presentation on their learnings to colleagues or the wider journalism network.

How to Apply

Interested candidates must submit an official online application form, which requests basic personal and professional details such as name, email, gender, nationality, region, and the country and city of work. All submissions must be written in English.

Key dates

The application deadline is 31 January 2027. Successful applicants will be notified by email by the end of April 2027.
