EWC Graduate Degree Fellowship in the United States | Fully Funded
Overview
The East-West Center (EWC) Graduate Degree Fellowship supports master's and doctoral study at the University of Hawai'i in the United States. Its main aim goes beyond financial aid: it seeks to build a sense of Asia Pacific community among fellows and prepare them as future leaders. Fellows live and interact together while taking part in intellectual and social activities, including team-building, leadership development projects and internships, educational enrichment gatherings, cultural exchange, community service and service-learning projects.
The length of the fellowship varies by degree programme. The University of Hawai'i, founded in 1970 and spread over 320 acres in Manoa Valley, is the state's flagship campus and offers bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees.
Who can apply
Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of an eligible country or territory in the Pacific, Southeast Asia, South Asia or East Asia. They need a four-year bachelor's degree or equivalent before the fellowship starts, from an accredited U.S. institution or a recognised university abroad. A GPA of at least 3.0 out of 4.0 or equivalent is generally expected over the last four semesters or six quarters of undergraduate study and any post-baccalaureate work. Candidates must also satisfy University of Hawai'i graduate admission requirements.
What you get
The fellowship covers books, housing in an EWC dormitory, health insurance, partial funding towards meals and incidental expenses. On a competitive basis, extra funding is available for field study, attending conferences and giving presentations.
How to apply
Applications go through the online portal. Students already at the University of Hawai'i apply directly to EWC and upload their documents.
