University of British Columbia (UBC) Scholarship In Canada (Fully Funded)
Overview
The University of British Columbia (UBC) offers scholarships and awards to international undergraduate students for the 2026-2027 academic year, at both the Vancouver and Okanagan campuses. UBC is ranked among the top 40 universities globally and invests over CAD $35 million each year in scholarships, awards and financial aid for international undergraduates. Awards recognize academic excellence, leadership and community engagement, and are available across all major disciplines.
What you get
The International Major Entrance Scholarship (IMES) is worth CAD $10,000 to $20,000 per year and is renewable for up to 3 additional years. The Outstanding International Student (OIS) Award is a one-time merit award of CAD $10,000 to $25,000. At UBC Okanagan, the Global Elevation Award is worth CAD $8,000 credited to tuition in two installments, and the International Welcome Award is worth CAD $5,000 credited in two equal installments toward first-year tuition.
The UBC International Scholars Program gives full financial support covering tuition and living expenses, plus leadership and mentorship opportunities and access to a network of global changemakers. UBC Vantage One scholarships and awards are tailored to academically strong international students who need to improve their English before entering UBC directly. They include an International Major Entrance Scholarship for Vantage One, a Vantage One Entrance Award and a Vantage One Excellence Award.
Who can apply
Applicants must be new international students entering UBC directly from secondary school or transferring from another post-secondary institution. They need a valid Canadian study permit, outstanding academic performance, evidence of leadership, extracurricular involvement or community service, and must meet UBC's English language requirements. For the International Scholars Program, applicants must be nominated by their school and submit a separate application.
How to apply
IMES, OIS and the two Okanagan awards need no separate application, because eligible students are considered automatically when they apply for admission before the deadline. The International Scholars Program and Vantage One awards need a separate application through the UBC portal, including personal statements, reference letters and nomination forms.
Key dates
Applications open in early October 2026. The International Scholars Program deadline for nominations and applications is November 15, 2026, with a final admission deadline of December 1, 2026 for those applicants. The final admission deadline for all international undergraduate programs is January 15, 2027. IMES and OIS results are announced in March and April 2027, and recipients confirm their offers before May 1, 2027.
