Tongji University Chinese Government Scholarship 2027 (Fully Funded)

Overview

Tongji University invites international students to apply for the Chinese Government Scholarship 2027 to pursue Master’s and doctoral degrees in Shanghai, China. This opportunity is sponsored by the Ministry of Education under the Chinese University Program and aims to attract exceptional international talent for graduate studies. Depending on the chosen degree, programs are conducted in either Chinese or English. Master’s programs span two to three years, while PhD programs run for three to four years.

Who can apply

Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good health. Master’s degree applicants must be no older than 35, and doctoral degree applicants must be no older than 40. Individuals are not eligible if they are participating in joint development programs, or if they are studying in their native language, English, French, or another third-country language or literature. Candidates must also not hold any other Chinese government scholarships simultaneously.

What you get

Successful applicants receive full coverage of tuition fees, comprehensive medical insurance, and a monthly living allowance of 3000 RMB for postgraduate students or 3500 RMB for doctoral students. Free on-campus accommodation is provided, but students who must arrange off-campus housing due to full on-campus capacity can receive an off-campus accommodation subsidy of 700 RMB per month for postgraduate students or 1000 RMB per month for doctoral students.

Requirements

Applicants must submit electronic application materials through the designated online systems during the application window. Accepted candidates are required to bring the original paper versions of their application materials for verification upon reporting to the university. Relocating students should also review student visa and health insurance requirements.

How to apply

Applicants must submit their applications through the online application system of Tongji University and pay the application fee. At the same time, candidates must complete an online application in the study in China system of the China Scholarship Council using Tongji University’s organization code 10247 and select the overseas study program type B to download the scholarship application form.

Key dates

The application period for Fall 2026 admission runs from October 25, 2026, to December 20, 2026. All online submissions must be completed before 23:59 Beijing time on December 20, 2026.
