Overview

The Swedish Institute Pioneering Women in STEM Scholarship 2027 is a fully-funded competitive program designed for women pursuing master's studies in Sweden. The initiative aims to support female leaders who wish to drive innovation, enhance their professional skills, tackle intricate challenges, and foster sustainable and inclusive societies. Eligible applicants come from selected countries in Africa and Asia to advance their careers and shape the future of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics through action, knowledge, and leadership.

Who can apply

Applicants must be female citizens of one of the 10 eligible countries located in Africa and Asia. Candidates need to apply for an eligible STEM-related master's program in Sweden and must be liable to pay tuition fees at University Admissions. Additionally, applicants are required to possess documented work and leadership experience gained through a current or former employer, civil society engagement, or entrepreneurship. Individuals who have previously held a Swedish degree or received an SI scholarship for studies are not eligible.

What you get

The award provides complete coverage of tuition fees, which are paid directly to the Swedish university by the Swedish institute each semester. Recipients receive a monthly stipend of SEK 12,000 to assist with living costs during the study duration, alongside a one-time travel grant amounting to SEK 15,000 for students not already residing in Sweden. Scholars also gain access to the SI Network for Global Professionals during their time in Sweden and join the Sweden Alumni Network for ongoing professional growth and networking after the scholarship period concludes.

How to apply

Candidates must first submit their master's program applications through UniversityAdmissions.se. After applying, candidates receive an eight-digit personal application number that is mandatory for the scholarship application, and entering an incorrect number will result in disqualification. Master's applications must be submitted by the specified deadline, with the list of eligible programs becoming available in mid-November.

Key dates

The application deadline is January 15, 2027, for master's programs beginning in the autumn semester.
