PhD Studentship: Uncovering the impact of multiple anthropogenic stress factors on rhizosphere plant-microbe interactions
Overview
This four-year studentship investigates how multiple anthropogenic stress factors and climate change impact rhizosphere plant-microbe interactions, root traits, and soil health. The research uses wheat as a study system in controlled plant growth experiments to examine combinations of stressors such as warming, drought, soil contaminants, and pesticides. The project combines methodologies from microbial ecology, environmental genomics, soil biogeochemistry, and plant science to evaluate crop yield, physiology, greenhouse gas emissions, and nutrient cycling.
