Overview

This full-time, fixed-term PhD studentship is hosted by the University of Birmingham within the School of Chemistry. The research project focuses on establishing biomimetic foldamers as a new class of sustainable catalysts that are highly tuneable for the green synthesis of functional organic molecules. Foldamers are synthetic oligomers adopting stable conformations such as helices, and their solid forms have functional applications in materials science, supramolecular chemistry, and biological chemistry. Because of their environmental compatibility, biocompatibility, and tuneable molecular properties like compressibility and molecular dipole, they serve as ideal candidates for sustainable catalysts.
