Overview

GLOCAL is a two-year international master's program funded by Erasmus Mundus and the European Union, with the 2027-2029 intake beginning in September 2027. It is open to students from any region of the world and offers 8 study tracks across 7 universities. Depending on the chosen track, students study at three universities in different countries. Study locations include Glasgow, Göttingen, Barcelona, Uppsala, Bogotá, Kyoto and Rotterdam.

The program mixes lectures and seminars with internships and thesis work, with a practical focus. It prepares graduates for careers in public policy organisations, multinational corporations, international consultancies, cultural and creative industries, and non-profit organisations.

What you get

The scholarship covers full tuition fees for the whole master's program and health and accident insurance. Students also receive a monthly living allowance of 1,400 euros, along with an optional contribution to travel and installation costs.

Who can apply

Applicants need a bachelor's degree or equivalent that meets GLOCAL's academic entry requirements, and an academic background relevant to their chosen study track. People still completing their degree may apply, subject to providing final degree documents later. Applicants can apply from any country, within the program and Erasmus Mundus scholarship rules, and must meet the English language requirements. Only one study track may be chosen.

How to apply

Applications go through the University of Glasgow's online system. Applicants create an account, download the application form in .docx format, add personal and contact details, write the personal statement, select their mobility track, agree to the declaration, sign and date the form, save it as a PDF, and upload it with the supporting documents.

The Supporting Personal Statement may not exceed 1,200 words and should cover motivation, academic background, career plans, relevant experience and a potential master's thesis area. Applicants with significant post-graduation work experience should explain how it relates to the program and why they are returning to study. Documents required are the form, a CV, two references, transcripts and degree certificates for all university studies, proof of English proficiency, and a color scan of the passport photo page.

Key dates

The application deadline is 14 January 2027.
