Your Skills Can Change the World: 2 Remote Opportunities at Design Action Collective
Overview
Design Action Collective is hiring for two roles: Graphic Designer, and Design Department Coordinator / Project Manager. The collective is a worker-owned design organisation that supports social movements and groups working for social change, offering graphic design, web design and development, branding and video production. New employees start with a nine-month candidacy period supported by a supervisor and a buddy, after which they can become worker-owners and take part in the democratic management of the organisation.
The Graphic Designer joins the creative team to develop visual communications for campaigns, organisations and movements. Experience with nonprofit, advocacy or mission-driven materials is valuable, and the work covers varied clients and projects. The Coordinator / Project Manager works in the design department, coordinating projects and processes and supporting collaboration, which calls for organisation, scheduling, client communication and problem-solving.
What you get
Starting benefits include flexible remote schedules, generous paid time off, full health, dental and vision insurance, flexible spending and dependent care accounts, professional development, political education and anti-oppression workshops, networking and conference participation, and union membership through the Pacific Media Guild and Communication Workers of America. Over time, employees can gain democratic decision-making rights, business management and supervision training, profit-sharing through patronage and a 401(k) plan. Salary is not stated.
Who can apply
The roles suit people with backgrounds in graphic or digital design, visual communications, branding, creative project management, communications and nonprofit or advocacy work, who are comfortable collaborating in a mission-driven workplace. Although schedules are remote, the listing notes this does not necessarily mean the jobs can be done from anywhere, so applicants outside the United States should check location and work-authorisation rules.
How to apply
Candidates review the full requirements for the role they want on the organisation's careers page, then submit an updated CV or resume, a portfolio where appropriate, and follow its application instructions. No deadline is stated.
