Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) is recruiting an International Communications Specialist for its University Marketing and Communications team in Suzhou, China. The full-time, fixed-term role focuses on strengthening the university's international media presence, managing relationships with journalists and supporting public relations campaigns. XJTLU was founded in 2006 through a partnership between the University of Liverpool and Xi'an Jiaotong University. It has more than 25,000 students across Suzhou and Liverpool, about 2,500 staff, and over 120 undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. It is marking its 20th anniversary.

What the role involves

The specialist writes and edits media releases, maintains international media contacts and a shared contact database, answers media enquiries, arranges journalist meetings and media events, plans annual media promotion packages within budget, and hosts international media at university events. The role also covers social media, recruitment campaigns, website articles, newsletters, speeches, video scripts and reports, contributions to magazines and annual reports, editing English-language material from other departments, and organising international PR events.

Who can apply

Applicants should have a master's degree or equivalent professional qualification in journalism, communications, public relations or a related field, native-level English writing, and at least three years in a communications management role in a corporate or institutional setting. Experience with creative teams, cross-cultural communication and developing news, digital and advertising content is expected. University experience and higher education media relations are preferred. Strong organisation, negotiation, public speaking and independent working skills are needed.
