Overview

World Relief is recruiting a Program Officer, Humanitarian Response, to support humanitarian programmes funded by the United States government and implemented in several countries. The full-time position is associated with Washington, D.C., within the International Programs team, with a remote or home-office arrangement, and pays US$70,000 to US$74,000 a year.

World Relief is a global Christian humanitarian organisation, founded in the aftermath of World War II, that has worked in around 100 countries. It focuses on humanitarian and disaster response, community strengthening and resilience, refugee and immigrant services, and advocacy. The officer supports grants and programmes across at least five countries within two regional departments.

What you will do

The officer acts as a liaison between country offices, home-office teams and consortium partners, monitors compliance and supports portfolio strategy. Duties include grant and programme administration, tracking systems, project set-up, review meetings and rapid-onset crisis needs assessments. On finances, the officer reviews grant budgets and indicators, supports annual and rapid-response budgets, monitors cash-flow and quality-checks reporting. The role coordinates quarterly programme and financial reports, contributes to concept notes, proposals and emergency funding applications, manages partner due diligence and agreements, supports travel planning, gathers impact stories and data, and maintains documentation.

Requirements

Applicants need a college degree in a relevant field and about 3 to 5 years of experience in international development, humanitarian assistance, nonprofit or mission-focused work, including humanitarian programmes in fragile, conflict-affected or emergency settings. Experience with rapid responses, strong writing for donors, project management, spreadsheet and financial skills, and the ability to influence without direct authority are needed. French is required, and country-office experience is an advantage. Candidates must show a mature personal Christian faith and commitment to the mission, and be willing to travel extensively to fragile environments.

A master's degree in a related field, experience with remote multi-country programmes and consortium projects, and experience with disaster, outbreak, displacement or public health responses and emergency proposals are preferred.

What you get

Benefits include a competitive package and an employee discount programme. World Relief holds the Gold-level Cigna Healthy Workforce Designation.
