The assistant helps manage local, wireless and wide-area networks, analyses network requirements and supports network projects in line with UN policies and technical standards. Duties include reviewing configurations, supporting backups, enforcing security policies and maintaining access control lists, privileges and rights. The role also involves writing scripts in Python and Ansible to automate repetitive tasks and developing network automation and programmability solutions.
On troubleshooting, the assistant works with technical teams and service desk staff, logs service requests, updates work orders, documents actions, monitors problems until they are resolved and acts as an escalation point for lower-level technical staff. Security work includes planning and maintaining controls, running vulnerability assessments of production systems, analysing intrusion detection alerts, reviewing equipment operating systems against vendor security advisories and escalating monitoring alerts. The assistant also researches and evaluates hardware, software and communication products, takes part in testing new tools, recommends adoption, and prepares technical documentation, data analysis, presentations and reports.
Requirements
Applicants need completed secondary education or a high school diploma, along with the CCNP Routing and Switching and DevNet certifications. Extensive practical networking experience is expected, and English is required.
