Overview

The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) is hiring a Project Assistant in Nairobi for a project on agriculture, agribusiness, industrialization and investment in Kenya. The post is a temporary project appointment, requisition ID 7981, at ISA-G4 level, with a three-month contract. The assistant works in the Division of Agribusiness and Infrastructure Development under the Directorate of SDG Innovation and Economic Transformation, supervised by the Project Manager and cooperating with colleagues at headquarters and in the field.

The project complements the government's County Aggregation and Industrial Park initiative by increasing investment in agriculture and agribusiness. Activities focus on a selected agro-industrial park and cover business-plan development, infrastructure improvement, investment and trade promotion and capacity building, drawing on international experience including approaches from China.

Who can apply

Only nationals or permanent residents of Kenya, where the duty station is located, are eligible. The role suits experienced administrative and project-support professionals, and accounting, finance or project financial administration experience is an advantage.

What you will do

The assistant provides day-to-day administrative, logistical and project support. This includes arranging meetings, events, training programmes, study tours and workshops, supporting international and national consultants and visiting UNIDO staff, and helping with travel requests and expense reports. The assistant also monitors disbursements, commitments, budget allocations and expenditure, follows financial and procurement procedures, compiles information for biannual, annual and service-provider reports, keeps electronic and physical project files and databases, maintains equipment inventories, and uses SAP to start and follow up administrative processes.

Key dates

The application deadline is 11 September 2026.
