What the role involves
Working under the Chief of HR Policy, Employee Relations and Operations and supervised by the Head of the unit, the expert helps prepare and amend HR policies and contributes to modernizing the policy framework in line with UN system practice. The expert researches HR policy topics and prepares materials such as HR manuals, training resources, communication materials and policy documents.
The role also includes drafting replies to stakeholder questions on how policies should be interpreted. The expert may support staff appeals and disciplinary proceedings by preparing memoranda, briefs, letters and legal submissions, drawing on precedent and jurisprudence from international administrative labour tribunals. Other related duties may be assigned.
Requirements
Applicants need an advanced university degree in law, human resources management or a similar field, and at least three years of relevant professional experience. English is essential. German is an advantage, and French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian or Spanish are assets.
