UNFPA Remote Consultancy Job 2026: Supply Chain Design Specialist Role – Apply for the 8-Week Remote UNFPA Consultancy
Overview
The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is seeking a Supply Chain Design Specialist for an eight-week consultancy within its Supply Chain Management Unit (SCMU), job ID 36053. The consultancy is administratively linked to Copenhagen, Denmark, but the work is fully remote and follows the SCMU Copenhagen schedule of Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 17:30. It is a temporary appointment at consultant grade.
The consultant will review UNFPA's two-year Regional Supply Chain Management Desk pilot in Dakar, serving West and Central Africa. The Desk was created to bring supply chain expertise closer to programme delivery, helping Country Offices with supply planning, procurement, logistics and last-mile assurance. The review should judge the pilot's effectiveness and recommend whether the model should be expanded, modified, maintained, discontinued or replaced.
What the role involves
The work covers three areas. The first is the Desk's performance in procurement, supply planning coordination, last-mile assurance, logistics, advisory services to Country Offices, procurement for third parties and capacity support, including client satisfaction, staff morale and contributions to domestic resource mobilisation and partner engagement.
The second is digital supply chain transformation, with particular attention to the UNFPA Control Tower, an analytics platform used for orchestration. The third is governance and reporting, including reporting lines for the Regional Commodity Management Team Lead, Procurement Specialist, Regional Supply Chain Specialist and Regional Logistician. The West and Central Africa set-up will be compared with arrangements in East and Southern Africa and the Arab States, especially dotted-line reporting to Regional Office leadership and its effect on decision-making, accountability, efficiency, performance management and coordination.
Requirements
Candidates need an advanced university degree and at least seven years of international supply chain management experience. English is required and French is highly desirable.
Key dates
The closing date is 13 August 2026, at 23:59 America/New_York time.
