Overview

UNESCO is recruiting a Project Assistant (Education) at G-4 level at its Headquarters in Paris. The post is open to external candidates entitled to work in France and sits in the Education Sector within the General Administrative Support job family. It is a one-year project appointment, with possible extension depending on funding and satisfactory performance. The assistant works under the Director of the Division for Education 2030 and is directly supervised by the Head of the Associated Schools Network unit, providing administrative and operational support for the unit's programme and financial activities.

What you will do

Duties include handling correspondence, monitoring deadlines, following up on actions and reviewing outgoing documents in English or French for formatting, style and grammar. The assistant maintains physical and electronic information systems, databases and distribution lists and helps prepare reports and presentations. Contract and financial administration is part of the job, from drafting contracts and entering approved details into UNESCO's financial system to following up on payments. The assistant also gathers information for work plans, budgets and programme reporting, helps organize virtual and in-person meetings, workshops and seminars, and supports the network's digital outreach by drafting content and using social media to encourage member engagement.

Requirements

The minimum education is completed secondary, technical or vocational education; a university degree is not mandatory. Applicants need at least three years of relevant administrative or secretarial experience, and support for programmes in an international setting and for meetings or workshops is preferred. Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and platforms such as SharePoint is needed. Candidates need excellent knowledge and drafting skills in English or French and good working knowledge of the other. Arabic, Chinese, Russian or Spanish is desirable.

What you get

The approximate annual starting salary is EUR 39,422. Benefits may include 30 days of annual leave, family allowance, medical insurance and a pension plan, depending on eligibility.
