Overview

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is recruiting a Data Science Analyst for the Justiça 4.0 Programme, a digital transformation initiative for Brazil's judicial system. The programme was launched in 2020 through cooperation between the National Council of Justice (CNJ) and UNDP, and aims to make justice services more efficient, effective and accessible. The post is listed under Brasilia, Brazil, but is designated home based. It is full time, lasts six months and falls under a National Personnel Service Agreement (NPSA-8). The job ID is 36821 and no salary is specified.

The analyst joins the Data Intelligence Project, structuring judicial data, supporting the use of DataJud and Codex, and producing diagnostics and transparency dashboards. The work is done with CNJ and UNDP teams to clean and improve Brazil's National Judicial Data Base, known as DataJud.

Requirements

Candidates need a Master's degree or equivalent in statistics, computer science, mathematics, software engineering, information science or a related field, with no prior experience required at that level. A Bachelor's degree in one of these fields is acceptable with at least two additional years of relevant experience, such as extracting, structuring and analysing large datasets, resolving inconsistencies and producing reports and dashboards.

R and Python are desirable, as is experience with databases such as ClickHouse, PostgreSQL or Elasticsearch and visualisation tools such as Qlik Sense, Streamlit, Power BI, R Shiny or Kibana. Work on judicial or public-sector data is an advantage. Fluency in Portuguese is required and English is desirable.

Main duties are extracting, cleaning and structuring data from CNJ sources, finding and fixing quality problems, designing scalable solutions for improving databases, producing reports and visualisations, building predictive and classification models, supporting statistical studies, documenting methods and transferring knowledge.

How to apply
