Overview

UN Women is accepting applications for its Investigations Consultant Roster to build a pool of pre-vetted professionals available for remote consultancy assignments. The roster membership lasts for an initial period of two years for successful candidates, while the initial vacancy duration is one year. The position is categorized as an IPSA-10 grade consultancy operating on a part-time schedule. Official travel is not anticipated, though any necessary travel arrangements would be discussed and covered by the organization.

Who can apply

Applicants must hold an advanced university degree in law or another field relevant to investigations, or alternatively a first-level university degree paired with two additional years of qualifying professional experience. Candidates are required to have a minimum of five years of progressively responsible professional experience in investigations or related work, which must include leading complex and sensitive investigations, managing multiple assignments, coordinating activities with diverse stakeholders, conducting cross-country investigations, gathering and analyzing evidence, working in complex international environments, and using Microsoft Office applications alongside databases and case management systems. Fluency in English is mandatory, while knowledge of French, Spanish, or Arabic is considered an advantage.

What you get

Successful candidates join a pre-vetted roster of investigation professionals and may be considered for future on-demand, home-based assignments supporting sensitive investigations across global operations. Placement on the roster does not guarantee employment, a consultancy contract, a minimum number of working days, or payment.

Requirements

Selected consultants may handle administrative investigations, conduct preliminary assessments, review lessons-learned matters, plan and carry out sensitive investigations into allegations of fraud, corruption, harassment, and abuse of authority, collect and examine evidence, and interview victims, witnesses, and subjects. Additional duties include preparing investigation and closure reports with evidence-based recommendations, maintaining confidential records, providing quality assurance for investigation documentation, and offering technical support or analytical reviews for the internal investigation function. Applicants must demonstrate high standards of professional ethics, integrity, analytical problem-solving, confidentiality, and the ability to conduct trauma-informed interviews.

How to apply

Interested and qualified professionals must submit their applications through the official UN Women Careers recruitment portal.

Key dates

The application deadline is 28 November 2026 at 12:30 AM.
