Overview

UN Women is seeking an International Researcher for a consultancy in Tbilisi, Georgia, classified at NPSA-11. The assignment is part of the Women's Increased Leadership for Democracy in Georgia (WILD) project, which is supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation. It involves 112 working days between 10 September 2026 and 15 March 2027.

The consultancy will produce evidence on violence against women human rights defenders and women journalists in Georgia, to strengthen prevention, protection, accountability and survivor-centered responses.

What the role involves

The researcher designs, carries out, analyzes and documents a study covering online and offline violence, including physical, psychological, economic and sexual violence, and emerging technology-facilitated abuse, including violence involving artificial intelligence. The study looks at prevalence, drivers and consequences, how online abuse connects to offline harm, how survivors cope, and the barriers they face in seeking protection, support or justice.

The work starts with an inception report setting out the design, methodology, sampling, ethical safeguards, data collection, quality assurance, analysis plan and workplan. The researcher then develops a questionnaire, finalizes it after feedback and runs a small pilot. They set up secure systems for sensitive data, survey at least 100 respondents, and conduct at least two focus group discussions and four to six in-depth interviews. After cleaning, anonymizing and analyzing the data, they write an analytical report and present findings and recommendations to UN Women and stakeholders.

Key dates

The inception report is due on 18 September 2026, with 40% of the payment scheduled for 30 September 2026. The final methodology and questionnaire are due on 15 October 2026, with a further 40% payable on 10 December 2026. The anonymized dataset is due on 27 November 2026, and the draft analytical report on 30 January 2027. A final report and presentation complete the assignment.

Applications close on 13 August 2026 at 9:59 PM.

Who can apply

The consultancy suits researchers with substantial experience in gender equality, violence against women, human rights, journalism, digital safety or mixed-methods research.
