UN Women HeForShe Barbershop Facilitator Consultant Roster: Remote Consultancy Opportunity for Gender Equality Experts
Overview
UN Women is building a roster of pre-vetted consultants to facilitate the HeForShe Barbershop Toolkit, a participatory programme that engages men and boys in discussions on gender equality, equitable masculinities and social norms. The programme is rooted in the Transforming Patriarchal Masculinities approach and is meant to operate across countries and languages, so facilitators are also expected to adapt it to local contexts. The opportunity sits in UN Women's Private Sector Partnerships Section, within the Strategic Partnerships Division.
Who can apply
The call is aimed at professionals with expertise in gender equality, equitable masculinities, male allyship, social norm change, human rights, training and community engagement. Roster membership does not guarantee an assignment. Engagements are made as needed, depending on programme needs, implementing partner requests, resources, geography and the expertise required.
Requirements
Consultants must join mandatory Barbershop onboarding and coordination webinars and attend at least 80% of them. They must also review the facilitation toolkit, safeguarding guidance and implementation framework, and confirm their understanding of the curriculum objectives and reporting requirements. Before delivering sessions they review the standard curriculum and adapt it where needed to local language, culture, participant profile, setting, partner requirements and logistics, while keeping to the programme's core objectives and methodology. Once engaged, they work independently within the established facilitation standards, protocols and monitoring and evaluation framework, reporting to the Partnerships Engagement and Special Initiatives Advisor and Global Head of HeForShe.
What you get
The consultancy is home-based and primarily remote. Short-term in-person facilitation, field missions and national or international travel may be required case by case. The first six months from onboarding are not paid, and the onboarding webinars, up to 10 hours per year, are not compensated.
Key dates
Onboarding webinars are expected during 2026, and Barbershop sessions are expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026.
