Overview
The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) is recruiting a Team Assistant at the General Service G-4 level in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, under Job Opening ID 282255. The post supports the African Centre for Statistics (ACS), which backs the production and use of high-quality statistics and data to guide development planning across Africa. UNECA promotes sustainable economic and social development on the continent, in line with the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals and the African Union Agenda 2063.
The assistant reports to the Senior Administrative Assistant and supports the Office of the Director of the African Centre for Statistics, working with colleagues across UNECA, Permanent Missions, UN agencies, NGOs and other international organizations.
What the role involves
The assistant carries out administrative and office support duties, drafts and answers routine correspondence, monitors schedules and workflows, and researches and compiles information for reports. Other tasks include screening calls and answering enquiries, providing secretarial and logistical support for meetings, conferences and committees, preparing presentations, and maintaining calendars and appointments.
The role also covers handling incoming and outgoing correspondence, managing mailing lists and distributing reports, arranging meetings, travel requests, purchase orders and contracts, keeping electronic and paper filing systems, and assisting with data collection and updating information materials.
Requirements
Applicants need a high school diploma or equivalent and at least three years of experience in general office support or a related administrative field. One or more years of experience in data analytics or a related area is desirable. English is required, and French is desirable.
