UK-Med Team Lead (French Speaking): International Humanitarian Opportunity Paying £6,600 Per Month
Overview
UK-Med is a frontline medical aid charity with more than 30 years of experience supporting people affected by crises and disasters. It is recruiting French-speaking Team Leads for its Register of surge responders, who are trained and vetted in advance so they can be mobilised quickly. The role could support future Ebola preparedness and response work in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and other Francophone countries, depending on operational need.
What you will do
The Team Lead provides day-to-day leadership and coordination for a multidisciplinary humanitarian health team. Duties include coordinating health programming, supporting high-quality delivery in complex environments, managing and developing team members, building relationships with partners and national authorities, overseeing operational delivery, contributing to capacity building, and supporting logistics, finance, grants and human resources functions.
Who can apply
UK-Med seeks experienced humanitarian professionals with field-based emergency operations experience and a strong understanding of humanitarian response and emergency health programming. Experience leading health programmes in complex or insecure settings and managing multidisciplinary teams is relevant. The ideal person is a determined, high-performing and compassionate leader. Professional working proficiency in both French and English is essential.
What you get
The advertised pay is £6,600 gross per month, including allowances. Joining the Register does not guarantee work or a specific assignment, but members selected for deployment receive fixed-term contracts for the length of the response. Deployment is full time and international. Most outbreak responses are expected to last about six to nine weeks, followed by a three-week quarantine period, though this depends on need. Register members also receive training and the chance to work alongside multidisciplinary teams on complex humanitarian health programmes.
How to apply
UK-Med applies a zero-tolerance approach to sexual exploitation and abuse and carries out thorough vetting before appointments. It also states a commitment to diversity, equality and inclusion. Candidates are encouraged to apply early because the vacancy may close once enough strong applications arrive.
