Overview

Welthungerhilfe is recruiting a Strategic Investment Partnerships Lead to develop strategic investment partnerships and lead innovative initiatives that accelerate progress toward Zero Hunger on a Healthy Planet. The senior role helps identify promising opportunities, build partnerships and mobilise public, private and philanthropic investment. A major task is steering the development and launch of high-impact Big Bets, meaning new solutions, investment mechanisms and partnerships that address underfunded opportunities in hunger, food systems, climate and sustainable development.

The position starts as soon as possible on an initial two-year contract with good prospects of extension. It can be based in Kenya, Ethiopia, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, the United States or Germany, and some other European Union locations may be considered depending on local employment possibilities.

What you will do

The lead runs an organisation-wide pipeline of innovative opportunities, sets governance and criteria for prioritising major initiatives, coordinates cross-functional teams and turns ideas into coalitions, funds, public-private partnerships or ventures. Other duties include building partnership and investment plans, engaging funders, investors, regulators and technology providers, developing capital mobilisation strategies, aligning public, philanthropic and private capital, preparing pitches and campaigns, and keeping track of sector trends.

Requirements

The vacancy is in Program/Project Management with a preferred experience range of 5 to 9 years. Applicants should have a strong record of developing ventures, partnerships or influential programmes in international cooperation, and strengths in partnership development, leadership, strategic thinking, communication, pitching and investment mobilisation. Understanding of nutrition, climate, food systems, WASH and humanitarian work is important, as is knowledge of Official Development Assistance, other official flows, and public, private and philanthropic funding. Experience in low-income, fragile or conflict-affected settings, managing high-value programmes and an existing donor network are advantages.
