Staff Tech Lead, Web & Developer Products

Overview

Ably30 is hiring a Staff Tech Lead, Web & Developer Products for a remote-first position based in the United Kingdom and Europe. Reporting directly to the CTO, this role involves co-owning the developer experience vision and strategy, leading an engineering team of five, and shaping the next generation of realtime digital infrastructure. Who can apply

Applicants should have extensive experience leading technical teams in technical B2B SaaS or API-first products, alongside a strong software engineering background with full-stack fluency. Candidates need demonstrable experience leading AI-first engineering by embedding LLMs and AI tooling into daily workflows as a productivity multiplier. A natural empathy for developer customers, experience in a startup or growth-stage company, and excellent cross-functional communication skills are required. While not mandatory, production experience with React and TypeScript, familiarity with developer tooling or APIs, and an understanding of pub/sub and distributed systems are considered bonus points.

Requirements

The position requires hands-on experience of AI-assisted development and the ability to define day-to-day team working practices with AI tools. Candidates must be able to lead technical execution and vision for customer-facing web applications, including dashboards, documentation platforms, marketing websites, and billing UIs. The role requires setting and enforcing high standards for code review, testing, production readiness, and incident response, as well as managing performance, career development, and hiring. All team members are expected to attend in-person company meetings held twice a year in February and August.
